Insights Women’s Book Group meets quarterly and is open to all Advent women.
The Winter selection is March, by Geraldine Brooks, a work of historical fiction that won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2006. It retells Louisa May Alcott’s novel Little Women from the point of view of the absent father, building his story before and during the American Civil War. Two love stories are central to the plot. But, on another plane, it weaves real historical characters (Emerson, Thoreau, John Brown) with the theme of abolition against the backdrop of the antebellum South and the Civil War.
We will meet Thursday, January 16, 2:00-3:30, at church. Please note the time change from evening
to afternoon for this session only. Please direct any questions to info@advent-umc.com
