Insights Womens Book Group Fall Discussion

Insights Women’s Book Group meets quarterly and is open to all Advent women.

The Spring selection is The Seed Keeper, by Diane Wilson.  Set in Minnesota, this novel tells the story of Rosalie Iron Wing, who has grown up in the woods with her father, Ray, who schooled her in their native Dakota traditions and history. One morning he goes off to hunt and does not return.  Told she has no relatives, Rosalie is sent to live with a foster family in nearby Mankato. There she struggles to find her place in a community where she does not fit.  She marries a white man and goes to live on his farm where she raises their son and finds solace in her garden.  Eventually, she begins to confront her past as she searches for lost family.  She discovers that she is descended from strong women who protected their families, their traditions, and a precious cache of seeds through generations of hardship and loss.  This awakening allows her to finally find her way “home.”  Questions?
